Last week, we had the privilege of leading the inception meeting for the Development of a Geothermal Strategy and Plan for Ethiopia. The meeting took place at the headquarters of Ethiopian Electric Power – የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል in Addis Ababa and it counted on the presence of the country’s main stakeholders in geothermal energy.

Geothermal energy has the potential to become a key renewable source of energy for the country which ultimately will contribute to Ethiopia’s energy independence. We will be working closely with the stakeholders to promote capacity building, support the development of a regulatory framework, and establish a roadmap to scale up investment in geothermal resources.
