Currently, the operation and maintenance expenses of street lighting systems are under the incumbent operator (EDM) and negotiations are underway to charge street lighting electricity consumption to the Municipalities. As part of its efforts to reduce street lighting electricity and maintenance growing costs, EDM, with the support from the AfDB, is exploring long-term and sustainable options to improve the efficiency of street lighting infrastructure networks, by replacing current lighting systems with modern and energy-efficient LED-based solutions. S317 Consulting conducted a feasibility study to assess technical, financial, and implementation options for the EE street lighting program.
